When “professional stress” is your problem you are leaving the ranks of amateurs.
Are you a stressed out day trader? I am and I couldn’t be happier. I have worked long hours to get to this point. I have spent literally tens of thousands of hours at the screen to attain this stress. Sounds crazy? I don’t think so. A professional day trader should be stressed; it’s the kind of stress you have that separates you from the crowd.
My stress comes in the management of my winning trades. I have no stress in the trades where I am wrong. My losers are cool. I’m wrong, move on next trade … no stress. But those winning trades cause me so much angst. Should I get bigger? Should I be taking something off? Set a tight stop or loose one? What size? Core trade it or scalp it? The list of decisions is endless that cause me stress.
I hope everyday to be rewarded with this stress. The long hours of study at the screen are paying off with this “professional stress”. When “professional stress” is your problem you are leaving the ranks of amateurs. What needs to change in your trading to bring on excessively high levels of “professional stress”? My next blog post will explore a few ways to make your losers stress free.
