This blog post by @Cyclops_Trader sharing his experience starting at a prop firm is an excellent read for traders. Cyclops contributes to the trading community that he developed his trading edge by being taught how to think like a trader. He writes:
At no time did he say, “this is a buy” or “this is a sell” it was all about letting me do my thing, and when I asked for help, he was there to add his views on the matter. By doing this, he taught me how to THINK like a trader, which is where I believe my edge does and always will lay.
Often we end our YouTube videos with, “As always, we hope the biggest reward for you in watching these videos is to learn how to think through a trade like a pro.”
In our training room during our 11AM mentoring session, I remarked, “I do not want to tell you how to trade, but rather what I am immediately thinking when I see that pattern.” We were reviewing how to think like a trader to trade TXN.
Learning how to think like a trader is a terrific goal for new and developing traders, as @Cyclops_Trader role models. And then after learning how to think like a trader, you can parlay that knowledge into so much more. For example, International traders have applied what they learned from our teaching in US markets to foreign markets. Also, our most improved Team at the firm learned a style of trading with edge and have taken it to next levels. Further, the best trader at our firm runs a Team where everyone can see exactly what this star trader is doing in real-time and they ALL trade uniquely.
Think about first learning how to think like a trader before thinking about huge trading gains and becoming a star trader.
